Philosophy
The Brenham Christian Academy Athletic Program recognizes the Word of God as its foundation. Under the direction of the Athletic Director, each sport has been designed to build the character of Christ within each participating student. Every athlete and cheerleader is taught that he or she is a representative of Christ, his or her family, and Brenham Christian Academy. The Athletic Program serves to develop these ideals within the students:

  • Leadership through Servanthood
  • Physical discipline
  • Loyalty, perseverance, and humility
  • Commitment
  • An active relationship with Christ
  • Knowledge of God’s Word
  • Application of the Biblical principles of :
  • Goal setting, faith, vision and the power of the tongue

On the athletic field, students are afforded the opportunity to demonstrate the depth of their understanding of God’s principles and truths and reveal the quality of character within themselves as athletes. The coaching staff utilizes every opportunity to mentor, inspire, reinforce, and teach the principles of the Word of God, endeavoring to call forth from each participant the character of Christ.

The athletic program provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in both individual, as well as team sports, with an emphasis on sports that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. The program includes six-man football, volleyball, cheerleading, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, golf and tennis (high school only). Brenham Christian Academy Letters are awarded at the sports banquet to those high school participants who qualify. Brenham Christian Academy is a member of Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) and subject to their guidelines.

Mission Statement
The mission of Brenham Christian Academy athletic program is to use the arena of physical training and competition to teach each student-athlete the disciplines needed to build Christian character and excellence in education, teamwork, and leadership.

Introduction
The philosophy and directives concerning the amount of time each student will play in a game are an essential component of the overall athletic program. One of the purposes of our program is to develop fundamental skills. Game competition and practice are major factors in building these skills; therefore, students should be able to participate in both. It should be clearly understood that one of the objectives is for team members to play in the games.

Objective
The objective is to be competitive within a framework that promotes developing character, leadership, teamwork and game competition for each player.

Spiritual Application
Athletics will be used to draw from the circumstances of the day whether it is in practice or in a game to relate biblical principles to the lives of the students (e.g., endurance during tough times, handling losses and victories, supporting those who succeed, and encouraging those who struggle, teambuilding, etc.).

"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. And everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a  perishable wreath, but we an imperishable."

- I Corinthians 9:24-25
